weekly wonder: nine

Here are our photos from the Pumpkin patch with our LA family.  It is always so much fun to spend time with them and now that we all have kids of our own our time together is very busy!

weekly olive: nine

happy nine weeks lil cutie-pa-tootie!

Olive was such a big girl this week.  She went on her first flight ever and got to meet most of her Texas family for the first time.  She was a pro.  She went to her Nannie and Doodad's barn, Mimi and Papa's House, the State Fair of Texas, North Park and Dim Sum.  All in just 6 days.  We had so much fun introducing her to as many people as we could.

While we were on our travels, Olive took her first successful bottle feedings while being babysat by her grandparents.  Jonathan and I were so lucky to get to have some adult time... we hardly ever leave Noah and those two times were our first times to leave Olive.  I was a nervous wreck, but honestly she couldn't have been in better hands!

Olive is still a tiny little thing.  I think she's probably around 10lbs and still fits into her newborn clothes.  All of her 0-3 months clothing just falls right off of her, so I guess we will have to wait a bit longer to update her wardrobe.  We did move her to size one diapers and I am hoping that her little legs will plump up enough so that I can put her into some cloth diapers soon.

Olive must be starting to see things a little more clearly now because she is grabbing at so much these days.  My hair, my necklaces, my ears, her hands, her pacifier.  She is great at staring and tracking people and objects.

She has great head and neck control and loves to stand upright on her little feet (just like big bro did). She doesn't mind tummy time and can teeter from side to side but doesn't roll just yet.  She can scoot around the floor on her belly though.

I'm not quite sure what's going on with her hair.  It's pretty thick and seems like it's growing longer and the color is light brown with blonde roots.  Several people have commented that her hair looks reddish.  I don't really see much red, but it wouldn't surprise me if she did have some in there since her paternal grandmother and uncle have red hair! He hair color mainly reminds me of Noah's... started out dark but then grew in blonde.  Noah lost all of his hair before it came in lighter and I wonder if she will do the same? I am taking advantage of her luscious locks and using as many hair accessories as possible.

I definitely didn't think I would love all the frilly things that come from being a girl mom... I always just loved the simplicity of being a boy mom.  So blessed to be experiencing all that comes with this little lady!

nugget: nine weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:
9 weeks 3 days

Size of Baby: green olive

Total Weight Gain:
I haven't gained or lost any weight.

Maternity Clothes:
no visible body changes yet...

Gender:
excited for either Movement: just gas ;-)

Sleep:
Less insomnia more pure exhaustion. Lots of napping.

What I Miss:
eating fun foods

Cravings:
I don't want to talk about food right now... it makes me want to puke. I'm also still having a hard time drinking water. It makes me feel even more sick and more nauseated. I have no idea why. It's doesn't matter how cold or how many ice chips there are. Just makes me feel sloshy and yucky.

Best Moment this Week:
I have found the heartbeat a few times on the doppler which is really reassuring. I just want to fast forward to the first trimester screening and see that we have a living baby inside of me. I want healthy reports too of course, but I really want to see that heartbeat flickering on the screen.

Blood Pressure:
It's been normal low like 111/72. I've been bruising pretty badly on the lovenox and on a few occasions I have made myself bleed. I don't remember that happening early on last time, but it's just par for the course I suppose. The progesterone suppositories aren't that bad either and since the placenta should be taking over int he next week or so I will be done taking them before long. The worst thing has been the nausea followed by the horrible sciatic nerve pain. I really need to start strengthening my back and doing yoga again. It will keep me healthy, but I've just been too nauseous and too tired to be motivated.

twinkies: week nine

How Far Along: 9 weeks

Size of Baby: pair of grapes. Baby has moved out of embryo stage and into fetal stage.

Total Weight Gain: down 3lbs

Maternity Clothes: none yet, but my stomach is starting to look a little puffy.

Gender: no clue, not worried about it yet!

Movement: nothing yet of course... lots of popping gas bubbles.

Sleep: still lots of exhaustion and insomnia! The insomnia also has a lot to do with the heartburn that developed this week... Since when does that happen at 9 weeks?

What I Miss: a nice dinner.  Dinner is our family time and feeling like crap makes it difficult to enjoy our time together as a family.  I find myself having to excuse myself half way through most meals because I am just too nauseous to be around food.

Cravings: absolutely nothing

Best moment of the week: A very controversial topic, but hearing BOTH heartbeats on the home doppler.  I try to limit it's usage, but it gives me some peace of mind in the weeks where I don't see a doctor. I did not use it as much as I do now when I was pregnant with Noah, but I think it's because things were easier to hear and he was very easy to find.  I could usually get away with a minute or two of listening every week or so.  This time, I have to search for those little boogers.  They are floating all around inside me.  I can tell the difference in their heartbeats already, but some times it takes a good five or more minutes just to find one of them.  I also started lovenox shots today.  While giving myself injections is not really the most wonderful thing ever... it is something I know will help my pregnancy progress normally and healthy and for that I am thankful to have it.

some more eye candy!

This week has been THE most nauseous week of my life. I am not complaining... only explaining. I take it as a sign that everything is growing as it should. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I have no other reassurances and so that is all I can count on at this time. I had my 9 week checkup and my doctor said he couldn't believe I was still smiling even though I hadn't eaten a meal in a few days and I had thrown up 6 times that morning. I told him that as long as the baby is still healthy and I am still healthy, then I have no reason to be upset. I am trying my best to be positive in all of this. It is very hard to do so when you feel like crap, but I just think about the possible end result and it keeps me smiling.

This week's ultrasound was very exciting. I couldn't hear the heartbeat at first which scared me, but then the doctor turned off the mute button and all was well! The baby's heartbeat was 181 and it was measuring right on track. It was kicking and punching around which was so fantastic to see. In my last pregnancy, I did not have an ultrasound until my 14th week, so these early ultrasounds are very special. I can honestly say that I see God's miraculous hand in the growth of our baby. In just two short weeks, our baby went from looking like a tadpole, complete with take to looking like a tiny little baby the size of a prune. It is truly amazing and I am so blessed to be able to see the development.

Anyways, here is our little nugget. And just FYI, the printer from the ultrasound machine is nothing like the machine itself. What I get to see is 3d and 2d high resolution picture, what everyone else gets to see is kind of bleh. The future ultrasounds will be much cooler though and I think I will start bringing my memory stick with me and collect the pictures digitally instead.

Can you see the little arm buds and leg buds? They were just wiggling around looking so cute!

Much Love,

Christa and Jonathan
