weekly olive: thirty-seven

Another week has passed.  Little Olive has been doing great this week other than a weird rash developed on Friday.  Thankfully it went away as quickly as it appeared.  Hopefully this is the last of the phantom rash.

Sweet little thing has been loving standing this week and even figured out how to balance unassisted. She's working on cruising the furniture and her crawling speeds are getting faster every day.  She's definitively an active little lady.

We have our hands full but it is truly wonderful.

Happy Birthday!

Well... I guess things weren't quite as amazing as they seemed on Thursday.

I showed up for my doctors appointment on Friday and my fluid levels had dropped even lower. Doctors were deciding between hospital bed rest and delivery.

So off I went to L&D for monitoring again. Once I got hooked up, contractions started and were pretty on top of each other. So one way or another... A baby was coming on Friday. My doctor prepped the OR and by 5:27pm we heard a beautiful cry!

Into the world came our sweet little Olive Wren McCaffrey.

5lbs 14oz,18 1/4 inches long and perfect!

Gods timing was good in all of this. My blood pressure started jumping around and I was having other preeclamptic symptoms.

The c-section recovery has been pretty textbook and Olive is a great little nursling.

I'll of course update more in the next few days especially once I'm out if the hospital, but I just wanted to thank you for your prayers, hugs and words of support through all of this!

Xo

nugget: thirty-seven weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 37 weeks (the old full term).

Size of Baby: about the size of a winter melon... I have no idea what that is!

Total Weight Gain: 26 lbs. Guess me and the baby are still growing. ha

Maternity Clothes: yes... although I will admit that I have been going pants-free at home a lot. Please don't come visit without a text or call first. ;-)

Gender: GIRLIE

Movement: baby girl is head down and low low low. I thought that maybe she had flipped one day because my seemingly dropped belly looked higher up, but then it became apparent that she was just stretching really long. She's been bonking my pubic bone a lot with her head which is really painful, but it's always reassuring that she's moving.

Sleep: not a whole lot of sleeping going on between the potty breaks and the insomnia.

What I Miss: sleep, sleep and more sleep.

Cravings: nothing really. I have been getting a lot of stomach aches, but I think it's because she's putting so much pressure on everything.

Best Moment this Week: seeing our growing girl during an ultrasound on Wednesday. She looks like she's growing nice a big!

Blood Pressure: It's been pretty borderline high. I am trying to rest and relax as much as possible. Just trying to hold off for another few weeks.

Really everything is going well. My bags are packed, the carseat is installed and all of our backup support is on standby to help with Noah when the time comes. We are so lucky to have our LA family! I hate to seem impatient (because I really want her to be as healthy and fully baked as possible), but I really can't wait to get this show on the road. It feels like this pregnancy has lasted years...

weekly wonder: thirty-seven

Sunday Noah and I met up with our friends baby Allison and her parents Kaitlin and Dan for some fun at the Los Angeles Farmers Market Fall Festival.  This is the BIG market at The Grove.  It is THE place to go in LA.  When we arrived it was very crowded so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but my buddies had already scoped out the cool kid activities so that Noah could get right to work.

First off we ventured into the petting zoo.  Noah has been to one of two petting zoos, but never really took all that much interest.  This time he was pretty intrigued.  It took him a while to warm up to the idea of actually touching the animals, but once he figured that part out he was out to touch them all. There were lots and lots of creatures in this petting zoo; llamas, ducks, pigs, goats, sheep, ponies, chickens and even deer or two.  It was fun to see Noah and all the other children interacting with such a variety of animals.

We then visited various fall/harvest centers.  Noah was able to milk a life-sized cow, pick pretend eggs in a chicken house, play some ranch-style instruments and even play in a giant sandbox filled with uncooked corn.  Noah had a blast!

After a bit, we decided that it was just too crowded so we walked around the mall and talked for a bit before heading home.  It sure was fun to catch up with our buddies, especially on such a fun adventure. Can't wait to see them again really soon!
