weekly wonder: LACMA

Noah's classroom is in the middle of prepping for their annual art fair.  For homework, the teachers asked that we go take him to the Los Angeles Museum of Art to see some of the artists the children have been studying in school.

I uttered the word "museum" and Noah shouted "you have to take me to the LACMAAAAAAAA". So I guess out of a lot of things he is not paying attention to at school he remembered that one bit and he was definitely excited about it.

Realistically, I knew that we wouldn't make it through all of the museum.  I have taken my kid to museums and various exhibits... I know his behaviors and don't pretend that he's the most well behaved child in all the land.  He's a wild banshee.  LITERALLY.

So when we got to the LACMA I first took him to a few outdoor exhibits where he could run around and get his wiggles out for a few minutes before we went in to see the other pieces.

He stinking LOVES the "giant noodles" otherwise known as "Penetrable in Neon Lime", so we were able to kill a lot of time letting him run through and play with this interactive piece.

He also really enjoyed seeing Alexander Calder's "Hello Girls" giant outdoor mobile and easily recognized Kandinsky's Concentric Circle pieces.

He had a ton of fun and has been asking to go back to the LACMA every day since.  Lucky him we already have plans to go this upcoming weekend.
