I am so not okay with Noah being 18 months old. That is so... BIG. I am in such a huff at the fact that this kid is just growing and changing so fast! I mean, don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE it... but I am also sad that he can't stay my baby forever!
Noah went to his 18 month check-up today and boy was I surprised at how much he didn't grow... yes I know super sad face! Everyone including myself has just been going on at how big he seems, but he's not and his doctor knows that it's mostly due to genetics and being very active, but she still expressed a little concern and said that she wanted to see him again in a few months for a "weigh in". I mean... I am so confident that Noah is a growing, healthy boy, but when the doctor looks at you with those concerned eyes you can't help but doubt yourself just a little bit. But those of you who follow my Instagram, you know that my name should be "Noah eats" because eight out of ten pictures are of Noah eating. Hah! So you know that I am trying my hardest! He ended up getting two vaccines today, one in each leg and even though he did cry right after all I had to say was "Let's go get some lunch" and he smiled and forgot about everything. I mean... I have had to give myself shots before... they hurt and I cried a few times myself so I can't really blame him. He was really great for the entire appointment though, he even showed Dr. Stern how he likes to climb up and down the examination table. I'm not sure she found that quite as exciting as we did.
Here are Noah's 18 month stats:20.88lbs...9.79 percentile
30.75 inches...6.26 percentile
18.9 inches...68.37 percentile
And if you are REALLY REALLY interested, you can see the comparison from birth to now on his growth charts, otherwise skip on... I promise I won't be offended.
Speaking of "Noah eats" there is a lot of that going on for sure. This kid is such a great eater and very adventuresome. He will try just about anything. That doesn't mean he will eat it all the time, but he will at least try it out, which makes Jonathan and I so happy. Just recently he decided that he likes purple cabbage salad! He loves loves loves broccoli and watch out if you have lentils, madras or chickpeas on your plate... he will steal them without hesitation. I know that he will probably go through a stage where he will only eat pasta and chicken, but for right now we are really enjoying our good eater, especially since it took him so long to eat solids in the first place. It makes dinner time so much easier when we can just feed Noah whatever we are having. Saves me some time and energy.
Our newest bit of excitement is the current jump in Noah's language development. He understands so much of what we say and ask of him now. It's neat to see the wheels turning in his little head. He can say so many things now. It may not sound exactly like the word, but after a lot of pointing, gesturing and repeating of the word, usually Jonathan and I can understand what he means. One of my favorite new words that he says is "bloobie" for blueberries. It is hilariously sweet. He also is starting to string words together like "baby go night night" or "Noah bap". Bap is his new way of saying bath. He also loves to try and sing songs that I am singing. He can repeat bits and pieces of song phrases like "all through the" from the
Wheels on the Bus. He is also now saying yes yes and yep yep and yeah yeah all the time. I must say it a lot because I don't know where else he would have gotten it. "Mama! Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes! Dadda yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!" Maybe its a song? Maybe he is trying to tell me something? Not sure. But its cute and annoying all at the same time because he literally will do it for 10 minutes straight.
Noah is still super active. He is REALLY into climbing right now. His favorite thing to scale is Jonathan's desk. He somehow inches himself up through the chair and then onto the desktop. I have watched him do it. It seriously hurts my back just watching him. Then he just runs from side to side on the desk and gives me a heart attack. This will all occur in a matter of seconds while I am trying to unload the washer or dryer which are less than 6 feet away. He also loves to push chairs all over the house and see where he can climb with them. He's gotten to the stove top and the top of the couch. I found him on top of the media cabinet. This kid has no fear. I am trying to be better about taking him to the park more often since obviously he needs to get this climbing out of his system. I also let him climb up and down the stairs with mommy or daddy's help because he is just bouncing with energy.
So far the most entertaining thing for Noah is anything with water. We do a lot of water time outside and he enjoys that. Pinterest activities sadly only hold is attention for like 5 seconds. It's really sad because most of them are so cute and fun looking.
Oh and I told you that Noah has a total crazy streak in him right? I guess that's normal for toddlers? You tell him no and he will do everything in his power to make your life absolutely miserable. I swear he learned that from Jonathan. ;-) It takes every bit patience to not lose my cool while he does this. We have a lot of "I know you are upset, but..." kind of discussions and mostly Noah ends up having a total meltdown on the floor. I'm hoping one day everything will just click and maybe every single thing that we do won't be a struggle. *fingers crossed!*
We are just loving watching Noah's little personality grow and transform. Makes us so full of joy and every day we are so thankful that God chose us to be his parents. I don't know how we got to be so lucky. ;-)
