Third week into the weekly wonder and Jonathan's parents were in town. If it's one thing I can say about my in-laws it's that they like to walk on the wild side! Every visit with them is a crazy adventure and this visit was no different. Grandad McCaffrey had some business to attend to in the Port of Long Beach and we decided it might be fun to go along with him and see what everything was all about. We had originally planned on driving and walking around the port just snapping photos, but a young captain from Pacific Sailing & Catalina Charters approached us about the possibility of taking a sailboat tour of the area. While I thought it would be great fun, we were partly there for business and needed to see the other (not quite as scenic) side of the port. When I told the captain that, he let me know that it wouldn't be an issue and that Noah could come too (I didn't even consider he couldn't HAH). Before I knew it we had popped some Dramamine and Noah, Grandad, Nannie, Captain Kyle and I were on a boat setting sail for the pacific ocean.
This was Noah's first time in a boat! He was so curious as to what was going on around him. Watching the sails rise up and the ropes fly all overhead. We encountered some sea lions along the way and they waved as we sailed past. There were lots of giant rocks, boats, cranes and shipping containers to look at which was pretty cool. And finally the lovely rocking and tilting of the waves lulled him to sleep and I was able to better enjoy the voyage.
It was really a fun and interesting adventure and I was SO SO SO happy that Noah and I were able to experience it while Jonathan's parents were in town. Nothing beats making memories with family! I definitely think this will be something we will try and do again when Jonathan has the day off or on a lazy weekend sometime. It was just so pleasant and relaxing and the coolest weekly wonder yet!
