weekly wonder: nineteen

This week we started our annual drive to Texas to spend the holidays with family. Some might be afraid of driving with two little kids for such a long trip, but for us it's really an exciting challenge and we try to have a lot of fun with it. We try to wake up really early... hours before the kids even wake up and hit the road. The kids sleep until 8:30/9 and then we stop for breakfast. After breakfast we drive on until lunch and break for something fun like a park trip and then drive on until dinner time where we camp for the night. We were really lucky and the kids slept in the first day of the trip so we made a lot of headway and got to Phoenix a little before lunch time. We grabbed a bite to eat at Rudy's bbq and then went for a short hike right around the corner at Papago Park. This kids (mostly Noah) had so much fun running around since they had been stuck in the car all day. We were able to wear them out really well before heading on our way and they were even able to take a nap in the car which made the trip go much easier without lots of fussing and bored kids.
