This Saturday we went to the Annenberg Community Beach House for a potluck picnic with some families from Jonathan's work. I have heard so many things about the beach house and was really excited to finally see it in person.
When we arrived it definitely felt reminiscent of a 1920's hotel with a modern flare. I could just imagine the long rows of changing pavilions and men and women modeling their swimming costumes.
Noah saw the sand and hit the ground running. The kid knew he was in for a treat. We brought our beach tent and sun chairs and set up camp right near the picnic sight which was pretty far off from the actual water, but it we were right near a play area and the restrooms which was really convenient. After lots and lots of munching, Noah was ready to explore so we made our way over to the water. Just about that time a huge cool-air fog rolled in. It was super weird to be running around in our swimsuits in what appeared to be the London fog, but I chased Noah up and down the beach and we splashed about in the waaaaaaay too cold for me (and Noah) water. Noah was super excited when we got up to the water, but once his little toesies hit that cold he was really hesitant. I just kept running in and out until he felt a little more warmed up to the idea of playing in cold water. After 20 minutes or so Noah was pretty purple so we headed back to camp.
We caught up with Daddy on our way back and Jonathan took Noah over to the play area to swing and warm up a little bit. He really enjoyed getting time to play outside with his Daddy. He usually doesn't get that since Jonathan works pretty late most days. After all that fun, Noah passed out in Daddy's arms while we sat around and chatted with Jon's workmates. It was really fun and relaxing.
Needless to say Noah went to bed early that night. He had such a fun day and we had such a great time visiting a new place as a family! I really hope we get to visit again, especially when it's warmer and the pool is open!
